Like a phoenix this project arose from tragedy. My blue command wolf fell off the shelf and snapped off the peg, that attaches the attack unit. Although I was able to get the peg out of the attack unit thus salvaging that part my command wolf was now without a weapon. However I had held on to the standard dual cannons that came with the command wolf and superglued the mount in place. My original intent was to create a white republic command wolf but despite five layers of paint the blue still showed through. I eventually stripped it and tried again with white spraypaint but the paint dried very doughy looking and porus. This by the way was also the first and last time I'll ever use spraypaint on a model. I preffer the control of a brush. Anyway as I'd said in conversations. "If I screw up one more time I'm just going to paint the damned thing black" WHat a smart idea that was. I started painting the wolf black and you know what it looked GOOD. right over the lousy white spraypaint the porus paint actually ended up working as a base coat that helped the black paint hold. I then mixed up some nice gunmetal gray. I painted the claws and teeth as well as detailed the hoses on the back, the shoulders, underneath the gun, part of the neck and the cockpit. Why'd I paint over the cockpit? Two reasons. The first was to give it a more armored look and the second was that orange chockpits are a sign of republic zoids. And as you'll notice this wolf has the crest of the guylos empire clearly emblazened on its shoulders. Thus I painted over the cockpit since changing translucent plastic color isn't really possible. A great looking custom that came out of a massive screw up.
